The veteran Estate Sale Finder always gets the good stuff. You may have stumbled across an estate sale listing, shown up to the sale during the day and found that the house has been stripped. You may have even seen the veterans of estate sales loading up their trucks and cars with some beautiful items. Well, for the estate sale newbie, there are a few pieces of advice that you should heed when heading to your next estate sale.
The next time you find a listing in your area, it is a good idea to show up early. And by early, we at Heritage Estate Sales mean like work-early. The kind of early that makes you late if you are less than 15 minutes early. You need to get there early because you are competing with the veteran estate sale finder.
Here is a pretty neat trick – bring post-it notes. You may be able to get ahead a little bit if just write your name on the post it and carefully place it onto anything you’re looking to buy. It’s somewhat like staking a claim. After which, you can then go looking for the representative to make the payment. This may stave off some of those estate sale veterans for a little while, giving you the edge. But if the representative does not approve of this practice, you can always use the post-its after the sale is finished.
Bring a tape measure. There is nothing for excruciating then seeing your favorite piece of furniture get moved out by someone else while you decide whether it will fit in the house or not. Know your measurements and then measure any furniture you may want to buy. It will make you even more decisive when it comes to finish off a sale. You do these simple little things and you may give yourself a chance against the veteran.
